With a record number of teens and young adults being offered braces on the NHS, optimising dental hygiene with braces seems like a very apt thing to talk about. Obviously braces make it harder and telling a teenage not to eat sweets may be quite redundant. Instead, here are some tips to ensure dental health with braces:
1. Brush the Brace Itself – don’t just brush around the brace, brush it as well getting at the wire and metal from every angle possible.
2. Don’t rinse after brushing – rinsing after brushing will rinse away the fluoride from the toothpaste which will work to fight bacteria.
